Marusya is an artist raised and born in Moscow, Russia.
Working across painting, graphics, installation, and research-based visual practice, she explores intimacy, feminine subjectivity, and the psychological dimensions of identity and desire.
Born into a family of art historians, Marusya graduated cum laude from the National Institute of Fashion in Moscow. She began her career in the early 2000s working with the Russian editions of internationally renowned magazines, including Esquire and Vogue, where she developed a strong visual and editorial language.
She continued her artistic education through a residency at the School of Visual Arts in New York, further shaping her individual language in painting and installation.
Since then, her work has been shown internationally, including at Personal Structures 2024, an exhibition organized by the European Cultural Centre during the Venice Biennale, as well as at Camden Image Gallery in London, Spazio Temporary in Venice, La Chapelle Saint Antoine on Naxos Island, and the Art4 Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow.
Alongside her studio practice, she has worked as an educator and mentor, teaching at the HSE School of Design in Moscow and creating an independent educational program in installation art with more than one hundred graduates.
Marusya is currently based in Barcelona, Spain.
